Lagoi Shipwreck

Bintan Island, Indonesia

In August 2023 a joint team of BRIN (Indonesia) and the Università di Napoli L'Orientale (Italy) started a project on a shipwreck discovered in 2016 on a beach in Lagoi, on the Island of Bintan, facing the Strait of Singapore.

Umluj Shipwreck

Red Sea, Saudi Arabia

The first scientifically documented and excavated shipwreck along the eastern Red Sea coast. An 18th-century Ottoman merchantman carrying Chinese porcelain, over 3,000 earthenware jars, and spices from South and Southeast Asia.
